| Collections |
An extensive collection program and in situ conservation will enable botanists to do research. The garden will feature several special interest collections of endemic plants, conduct research on wild plant reintroduction and habitat restoration. We want to focus attention in our collection on endemic plants as well as their traditional use in medicine, ceremonies, vernacular building, cooking, handicraft etc.
The rapid urbanization threatens the loss of a large body of traditional knowledge and in close cooperation with an ethno-botanist we want to make an index of local medicinal plants and their usage before this knowledge will be lost forever.
Several publications are being planned for this project as well as other special research programs under the guidance of well-known botanists and in collaboration with other international botanical gardens.
